Revive and Thrive
A Photo Story of Deforestation, Humanity, and Hope
Revive and Thrive is one of my photo research stories on the impact of deforestation in Nigeria by focusing not only on the environmental damage but also on the people behind it—the loggers.
By following them into the forest, I documented their daily lives and posed important questions:
Why do they fell trees? How do they choose which ones? Do they give back to the Earth in any way?
Their stories reveal a complex reality—many are driven by survival, yet some still hold a deep respect for the forest and practise selective felling or replanting in small ways.
This project also sheds light on state-led reforestation efforts, providing evidence that healing is possible.
Revive and Thrive is a call to action.
It serves as a reminder that while we are part of the problem, we can also be part of the solution. Together, we can revive our forests—and thrive alongside them.
